As the holistic health and wellness field expands, so do the options for career pathways. Possible careers for graduates of the Hocking College Health and Wellness program include:
  • Life Coaching/Personal Coaching is a practice with the aim of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals. Life coaches use multiple methods that will help clients with the process of setting and reaching goals. A coach may use inquiry, reflection, requests, and discussion to help clients identify personal, business and/or relationship goals, develop strategies, relationships and action plans intended to achieve those goals. According to U.S. News and World Report, the profession of coaching (sometimes called Personal Coaching or Life Coaching), is the second biggest consulting business, second only to management consulting. “Coaching is the number two growth industry right behind IT (Information Technology) jobs, and it’s the number one home-based profession.” - Start-Ups Magazine;
  • Wellness Consultants help people live healthier lives through making sound choices in how they eat, work, exercise, relieve stress, relate in communities, and take care of themselves and others. They assist clients in identifying areas needing particular attention, and finding solutions that can be readily implemented. Wellness consulting may take place in private practice or in a variety of institutional settings. As people are increasingly choosing to live healthier lives, the career field of wellness consultant has been growing over recent years. The field is also expanding as many corporations are recognizing the value of “wellness” programs as a means of improving employee productivity and job satisfaction;
  • Stress Management Consultant - Stress management is a growing health care and behavioral health specialty. Stress has been identified as playing a significant role in the development of certain health problems. Stress Management Consultants provide individual and group consultation and education about the effects of stress on an individual's health and wellness;
  • Practitioner in a spa, alternative health care center, doctor’s office, hospital, and/or corporate wellness center - Join an established practice. These specialized centers are developing in rural areas and in the cities. Health and Wellness graduates will have an edge on other applicants for these particular businesses;
  • Holistic Wellness Educator provides training and information about holistic approaches to wellness to individuals, groups, schools, businesses, and other community organizations; and,
  • Holistic Wellness Business Owner - Be your own business owner featuring holistic health and wellness ideals and practices to fill this growing need. Increasingly people are interested in learning how to live healthier lives and want to explore complimentary and alternative avenues. Small businesses featuring a variety of energy, and alternative health and wellness modalities and services are developing in many areas of the country.
