Announcing Fitness Management!
Do you enjoy helping others? Do you want to learn the skills and knowledge required to obtain a highly prestigious national certification that opens the doors to a diverse job-market that includes Commercial, Corporate, and Community centers? Do you want to gain experience coveted in the fitness industry while still in school? Do you want hands-on labs, practicums that assign real clients with real personal training issues and a capstone 300-hour internship in some of the most exciting fitness and wellness centers in the country?

The Program
Where else can you get hands-on training that is focused to the industry needs in a brand new multi-million dollar facility? You will complete your Fitness Management classes and labs in the newly constructed state-of-the-art Student Center where you will have the opportunity to learn health and fitness techniques from the experts. This facility will provide unparallel experiences both in and out of the classroom.

You will begin by assessing your own personal health and fitness level, gain the foundations of the human body, its nutritional requirements, obtain your CPR certification and conquer a challenging group fitness class all in your first quarter.

Next you will learn how to assess and interpret results from the five components of fitness, which include: Body Composition, Cardio respiratory, Flexibility, Muscular Strength and Endurance and then apply these skills when you are assigned clients from other disciplines at Hocking College to assess and train during the third quarter practicum.

Think you do not have the skills to train someone in only your third quarter of college? Think again, you will receive intensive instruction in Resistance Training and Group Aerobics while also expanding your knowledge base during Anatomy I and II, Applied Nutrition and even obtain your certification in First Aid and Life Guard Training.

You are now ready to lay the groundwork for your dream job owning and operating your own personal training business when you design a portfolio that does just this in the Personal Fitness Trainer Course. Be prepared to receive insight and guidance from those in the industry during guest lectures and field trips to name just a few of the experiences you can expect.

Finish your last on-campus quarter discovering how the body reacts when exposed to acute and chronic exercise during your Exercise Physiology class and how to successfully market and manage a fitness facility while completing real world problems in your Fitness Management Class that will challenge your newly developed computer and oral presentation skills. You will also serve as a personal trainer who assesses, develops and implements a 2-year training plan to meet the needs of assigned first year Police Science students who are preparing to pass their required fitness test.

Still not ready to conquer the fitness world? We will get you kick-started with an intense 45-hour National Certification preparation course and certification test and finish-up with a 300-hour internship in a dynamic and professional setting as the capstone event in your Hocking College Fitness Management Experience. Want even more, our program matches many of the first two-year general requirements for many Exercise Science four-year programs at a fraction of the cost.
