NELSONVILLE - The five-member Culinary Team representing Hocking College won the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Ohio Junior Hot Food Team Competition Sunday. The team won a gold medal in the signature dish competition and this is the fifth state title won by a Hocking College.
Members of the championship team are: James Pearce, captain; Abigail Petry, Jason Pfister, Jon Lange and Scott Pierce. The Hocking College team is coached by Thomas Landusky, certified executive chef.
Cuyahoga Community College finished second and won a silver medal and Columbus State Community College was third and won a bronze medal. University of Akron and Sinclair Community College also competed in the event that was held on Hocking College campus.
The Hocking College team advanced to ACF's Eastern Regional Championship competition in Rhode Island in March and won second place.
