Are you a good troubleshooter? Like to know how things work? Mechanically inclined? Want to work in a field where there's always action? Think about becoming a "compressor doctor" and explore Hocking College's Compressed Air and Gas Systems technology.
The Program
Compressors have become an indispensable tool for many industries- in fact, air-power is the 3rd largest source of industrial power in the USA today, after electricity and gas. Someone has to keep these compressors functioning- it could be you!
This Compressed Air and Gas Systems technology is the only two-year associate degree program in the United States! It was developed at the request of industry- they need qualified technicians to meet shortages of staff.
After this program, you'll be able to.
- Perform preventive maintenance and basic repair on rotating/reciprocating compressor equipment
- Use and read commonly used precision instruments- micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
- Correctly interpret and sketch ladder diagrams
- Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on major components in compressed air systems
- Understand environmental issues related to the technology
- Be RSES certified to handle refrigerants.
This technology is recognized by the Compressed Air and Gas Institute of Cleveland, Ohio.
Learn By Doing
Start your training in our state-of-the-art Holl Laboratory. Then, get out and try what you've learned in the real world! Jobs for Grads
Out of the Box - Right after graduating grads find jobs not only in industry but any place which has a physical plant. They are employed as:
- Compressor Technicians
- Maintenance Mechanics
- Inside Compressor Sales
- Compressor Parts Specialists
- Starting salaries range from $27,000 - $30,000!
Down the Road - With additional time and experience, some service managers and application engineers earn over $60,000 annually!
