Curious about how things work? Creative? Enjoy drawing? Want to learn how to design? Looking for a dependable future? Check out Drafting and Design.

The Program
Learn to convert ideas, sketches, notes and other kinds of data into workable plans using both standard drafting practices and computer aided drafting (CAD). You'll be employable in both mechanical and architectural fields!

You'll be able to:

  • Find, evaluate and organize data for design proposals
  • Create designs for specified purposes
  • Read and understand a set of basic blueprints
  • Use equipment to properly scale and reproduce drawings
  • Use a computer workstation with computer architecture, tools, and application software

And much more!

Learn By Doing
Start your drafting training in our on-campus labs. Learn AutoCAD software used to produce 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional drawings and become proficient in navigating the AutoCAD commands. Create a basic set of residential house plans and architectural details. Learn why you draw things at the same time you are learning how to draw.

Get real world experience in a practicum where you'll apply what you've learned to a real situation. Or, connect with one of the companies who contact the Drafting program who need assistance with smaller CAD projects. Try out your skills!
