The Program
This program is designed to prepare students for careers in music production,
performance, and business management. Along with an introduction to all aspects
of music, you will select one specialization for in-depth study and training,
all involving hands-on experiences. Each quarter, you’ll have an
opportunity to learn from visiting guest lectures and notable professionals
in the music and entertainment industry.
All music students complete a “core” in music production,
performance, and music business management and develop foundational skills that
are needed for any career in music. You will take beginning classes in
production, performance, and management which give you a “taste”
of these three exciting music elements.
During your third quarter of study, you will choose from one of three areas of
specialization – production, performance, or music business management.
Production
Intensify your experience by learning in a studio how to produce and mix
music from a variety of genres. Your lab classes are located at Washington
Hall where you’ll gain hands-on practical recording experience.
The main studio classroom is equipped with a primary 24-track,
state-of-the-art ProTools recording studio board. This equipment will
allow you to do multi-track recording: tracking and overdubbing.
Additionally, Studio B is set up with an 8-track recording ProTools
studio used for overdubbing and mixing recordings.
Performance
Experience and train in a variety of aspects of performance. Our lab is
designed with individual and ensemble practice rooms so you‘ll have a
