Welcome
Staying healthy in college means a better learning experience. Hocking College is interested in the student’s health and wellness, as well as the students’ academic progress. We realize that staying healthy in college means a better learning experience and that nutrition, rest, exercise and friends are all vital to the students well being. Hocking College has a Health Center for students to use during those times when they might not be feeling their best.
The Health Center is designed to promote healthy lifestyles. We believe risk reduction and health promotion are core values of college health and that good health is essential to learning. We offer health education programs on a variety of topics. The Health Center provides in class presentations and maintains a variety of health education literature.
We are a nurse-managed Health Center, staffed by two registered nurses, that provides cost-effective health care services to enhance the students well being. Under the direction of a local physician, the nurses provide primary care for common minor illnesses and injuries that often arise.
There is not a physician on campus. Dr. Joseph Holtel of University Medical Associates in Nelsonville, Ohio is our Medical Director. All emergencies, serious or prolonged illnesses are referred to the local hospital, the student’s private physician or a local physician/health care provider. When an emergency arises, Campus Safety is notified and 911 is dispatched for transportation to Doctor’s Hospital of Nelsonville.
We welcome your phone calls. Please feel free to call us at:
