Housing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Choose from three campus managed housing options:

Hocking Heights a traditional residence hall located right on campus.
Summit on the River a suite-based residence hall located just across the Hocking River at 1100 East Green Drive.
Sycamore Hall Also a suite-based residence hall located just next to Summit on the River at 1000 East Green Street

How do I obtain a housing application and rate sheet?

  6. Call the Housing Office  740-753-6175

    There is a required fee of $130 for each application. Financial Aid cannot be used to cover this fee.

Deadline dates for room amount to be paid In full

    Fall = July 1
    Winter = December 1
    Spring = March 1
    Summer = June 1

* If applying after deadline date, application and room amount to be paid In full with completed application.

How soon will I know if I have been accepted?

    A letter will be sent to you confirming the receipt of the application, stating the status and the next step.
How will I know the Hall and type of room assigned?

    Fall quarter -- A packet will be mailed to you in May, stating the Hall and type of room assigned, the amount owed and the deadline to mail your payment.  The packet will also include information on the Meal Plan and a Linen option.

    Summer, Winter & Spring -- Upon receipt of your application/contract form, a letter will be mailed to you stating the Hall and type of room assigned, the amount owed and the deadline to mail your payment.

What is the term of the contract?

    Summer quarter -- The contract is limited to Summer I, Summer II, or both.

    Fall quarter -- The contract covers from Fall through Spring quarter (inform the Housing office prior to the start of Fall quarter if you are graduating or enrolled in a one quarter program which prohibits you to fulfill the term of the contract).

    Winter quarter -- The contract Winter and Spring quarters

    Spring quarter -- The contract covers Spring quarter ONLY

Payment Plan

    There is NO Payment Plan option.  Payment in full must be paid by the deadline date.

Quarter of Application

    Indicate the quarter and year you will begin residence at the College housing facility:

    If you check Summer -- this will only cover Summer quarter; indicate if Summer I or II or both)

    If you check Fall -- this will cover Fall, Winter & Spring quarters (3 quarters)

    If you check Winter - this will cover Winter & Spring quarters (2 quarters)

    If you check Spring - this will cover Spring Quarter only (1 quarter)

    Inform the housing office if you are graduating (indicate the quarter) or if you are enrolled in a 1 quarter program.

Housing Options: (All on campus facilities are now non-smoking)

    Hocking Heights -- doubles are limited; more triples available

    Summit On The River -- 1 male triple room; 1 female triple room; remainder are doubles; disabled rooms for students are also available; most rooms have lofted beds.

    Sycamore Hall -- Doubles and triples available.

Roommate Assignment

Your request (on application) provided all deadlines have been observed by all parties

Parking

Acceptance for Housing

  • You must be accepted to the College before your Housing application can be processed
  • Accommodations are available to registered, full-time students (12+ credit hours/quarter)
  • The contract is binding for the entire Academic Year (Fall through Spring); Summer is separate.
  • Any change in your housing status or cancellation must be communicated to our office in writing.

Deposit Refund

  • $100.00 room deposit is refundable only if student cancels before due date
  • Student has fulfilled the entire academic year housing contract (Fall to Spring)

Application

  • Application must be signed by the applicant; parent/guardian signature is required if applicant is below 18 years of age. If older than 18 years of age and parent/guardian signs contract - contract is considered valid.

Financial Aid/3rd Party

    Only if the full amount will cover both housing and tuition fees and is awaiting release by the deadline date; if no award(s) is determined by deadline date, a payment is required or your space will be assigned to the next person on the waiting list. Check with the Financial Aid office at 740-753-7061 for verification. Application received after the payment due dates will be processed on a first come-first pay basis.

What is available Off Campus?

  • Privately owned apartments, houses, and trailers located between 1 and 5 miles from Hocking College.
