One of the first questions that comes to mind when you think about living in the residence halls is "Who will I live with?" At Hocking College, we understand this concern and aim to match you with another student who has some of the same interests and personality attributes that you do. The documents included on this page are an important part of how we find out more about you to help us match you with your roommate(s). Without this information, all we know about you is your name, technology, and birthdate. With this information, we start to put together a picture of the kind of person you are and the kind of person you might like to live with.
The first questionnaire asks for some of your basic information, as well as some general information about how you like to live, what kind of music you enjoy, and the kinds of activities you like. We always try to match you with someone who is in the same or a very similar technology as you. This way, hopefully you'll share some classes and be able to help each other when it comes time to study! This survey only takes a few minutes to complete and provides important information about you to help us find a suitable roommate.
The second document gives you information about taking the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator online. This personality inventory has many uses in business as well as in education and is a valuable tool for learning more about yourself and others! This inventory may take a little longer to complete, but provides additional information about you to help us get to know you while we match you with your roommate(s).
The results from both of these questionnaires are sent directly to Lisa Phillips-Smith, the Director of Housing Administration who matches all residential students with their roommates. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact her at phillips_l@hocking.edu or at extension 6175.
Although we try our best to match you with someone you'll be comfortable with, sometimes roommates do have difficulties. You are encouraged to try to work out your differences with your roommate(s) through open and honest communication. However, if this doesn't help, please seek the assistance of your Resident Assistant or Hall Director. |
