Males without this number on file with Admissions will be charged a tuition surcharge of an additional $1,056 for full-time enrollment.)

Recommended
Attend New Student Scheduling & Registration (Steps 5- 7 in 1 day!)
New students are strongly encouraged to attend a New Student Scheduling and Registration (NSSR). You will complete Steps 5 – 7 in one day, and parents/supportive persons are invited to come along. It's the most comprehensive method of getting started at HC, and reservations are required. For dates & to sign up, visit http://www.hocking.edu/NSSR/ or call 1-877-HOCKING.

Step 5 - Entry Course Placement (if needed)
An assessment of your math and English skills is important for proper placement into your starting courses. A timed, paper/pencil version (ASSET) and an un-timed, computer version (COMPASS) are both available. You must bring a photo ID in order to complete the assessment.

We recommend that you spend some time reviewing your skills using our Online ECP Review Sheet prior to assessing. The Testing Center is open daily from 10:00am – 2:00pm Monday – Friday, excluding breaks.

Important: If you have taken the ACT, send your scores to the Admissions Office at Hocking College or bring them with you. You may not need to complete Entry Course Placement if your ACT scores indicate college-level placement.

Step 6 - Meet with an Academic Advisor
Review your assessment scores and plan your first quarter of classes with an advisor. Remember- Hocking College arranges courses in “blocks”- with large class times allotted for hands-on lab experiences. It is important to work closely with your advisor to start (and stay) on track.

Step 7 - Register for Classes & Make Payment
After meeting with your advisor, you may register either in your academic department or by visiting the Cashiers and Records Office, on the Concourse in John Light Hall.

Full tuition payment is necessary at the time of registration. HC offers a variety of payment options, including:

Step 8 - Attend Smart Start
Smart Start is a new student orientation program for class credit.
Visit http://www.hocking.edu/smartstart/ for dates & schedules.

Step 9 - Have FUN during Welcome Week
Welcome Week is the first 7 days of each quarter. Activities include everything from FYC Tours (Find Your Class Tours) to Ice Cream Socials.
Visit http://www.hocking.edu/welcome_week/ for more dates & schedules.
