Clothing
You will need both lightweight and heavyweight clothing as well as rain apparels. Some basic items such as a coat and sweaters, jeans, and short pants. An umbrella is also essential for the weather in Nelsonville. Informal comfortable clothing is practical for everyday occasions. Formal wear is optional.
Plan to bring your country's traditional clothing and music. You will have opportunities to share your culture on campus
Linens, Bedding and Room Furnishings
Blankets, towels and bed linen are some more things you can bring with you. However, remember you can buy anything you need in the U.S.
Special Items
International Student Services sponsor events which highlight cultural heritage of all nations. Items of cultural interest such as photos, books, slides, musical instruments, traditional dress and taped music will be of interest to your American friends, if you have room in your suitcase. Spices and foods from other countries are readily available in the U.S. so do bring along recipes.
You should not attempt to bring food, plants or anything that can be interpreted as being drug paraphernalia such as pipes or tobacco rolling papers. These will most likely be confiscated from you at the airport.
