100 Goal Blood Drive

The American Red Cross is holding the largest blood drive ever attempted in Hocking College or Nelsonville on Thursday, May 31, 2012. The Red Cross has enjoyed solid support from students in past blood drives at Hocking College, and now feel that they can find enough donors to make a goal of 100 units of blood collected during this one day.

The American Red Cross has seen blood donations steadily decline since mid-March, and once summer begins donations will drop even further. The support of the entire campus community is crucial not only to the success of the drive, but also, most importantly, to many patients in area hospitals who depend on blood donations for a variety of critical illnesses and injuries.

To promote this special blood drive, the Red Cross is offering more donor incentives than ever before. Twenty certificates for a free one-topping Domino's pizza will be raffled, along with certificates for free ice cream, gift cards, and other goodies for each donor. Finally, the Red Cross will hold a hot dog cookout outside the Multiplex, with food just for blood donors that day.

Each blood donation saves up to three lives in area hospitals, and donation takes very little time and is relatively painless. Please contact Elisa Timmerman, at et581908@ohio.edu with any questions, concerns, or to make an appointment. Full drive info is below.
