Grants

To be eligible for grants, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.

There are several different types of grants:

Federal Pell Grant
Unlike a loan, a Pell Grant does not have to be repaid. It's usually a foundation of federal student aid, to which other federal and nonfederal sources might be added. If you're eligible for a Pell Grant, you'll receive the full money you qualify for.

Some students who qualify for the Pell Grant may receive a Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). This is a grant with limited funding at each school. The FSEOG is for students who demonstrate exceptional financial need.

Ohio Instructional Grant
The Ohio Instructional Grant (OIG) helps to bring to cost of college to more Ohio families. The OIG does not have to be paid back, and is awarded to Ohio residents based on financial need. There is no additional application, but you must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA by October 1 of each year.

Part-Time Instructional Grant
The Part-Time Instructional Grant is awarded to Ohio residents who are enrolled in less than 12 credit hours and who demonstrate financial need. Connect with Hocking College's Financial Aid Office at 1-977-HOCKING, Ext. 7061 for more information.
