Discover the Future Campaign

Hocking Colleges encourages you to "Discover the Future" with the institution by donating to the Hocking College Foundation. Hocking College has a history of being a leader among institutions of its kind. What sets Hocking College apart from others?

The Ability to Dream

  • The determination to fulfill the college's original mission to provide the very best post-secondary education and technical training rather than alter its course in the pursuit of short-term benefits.
  • The skillfulness to make sound financial investments with an eye to future growth and development of the college.
  • The self self-assurance to take risks, to explore innovative alternatives in instructional design, curriculum development and programming, student assessment, and support for students to stay in college and complete their certificate, degree or transfer to a four-year institution.
  • The foresight to aggressively pursue federal, state and private monies.
  • The dedication and talent of the staff, faculty and administration to provide excellent service.
  • The earnestness of our students while they attend the college as they work toward the realization of their own dreams.

Discover the Future with the Foundation

There has never been a more critical time for the Hocking College Foundation to be raising funds to support our students, degree and certificate programs and needed campus improvements.

  • Our students are no longer eligible to receive Ohio College Opportunity Grants. Since this form of financial aid allowed for a higher household income level, which helps students not eligible for federal financial aid, many of those students will rely on student loans. Research shows student loan debt is on the rise, and we know for a fact many more of our students are relying on it for their education, burdening them with debt that is more than they can handle. In order to help relieve our students' financial burdens, we must be able to provide scholarships and other financial assistance to an increasing number of our students who can't access financial aid.
  • We are a vital part of Southeastern Ohio. The second-largest employer in the region, we contribute greatly to the economy. Additionally, many of our students live in the area, and stay here following graduation, to work and raise families.
  • Hocking College, along with the other 22 Ohio two-year colleges, received a 9.4% reduction in our state aid for the fiscal year 2012. Currently, state aid comprises 30% of the college's operating budget.
  • Government funding for two-year colleges, including Hocking College, has been on a downward trend, and is expected to continue. The college, more than ever before, relies on fundraising to support operating costs, provide quality education and keep tuition affordable.
  • In order to be in a stronger financial position, less reliant on state aid and less vulnerable to fluctuations in government funding, we need to increase the amount of the college's strategic financial reserves.
  • Many of our students have families and/or must work in order to attend college. Options for taking classes, such as online classes, would allow more students greater opportunity in their educational endeavors. However, our technology needs upgraded in order to provide the flexibility our students require.

The future of our students, their families and the region's economy, more than ever before, hinges on our ability to raise significant funds. The Foundation is dedicated to developing the resources needed for our students and for the college. We rely on the generosity and dedication of you, and others like you, to continue the legacy of Hocking College.
