Raising the rigor of academic and technical education requires professional development opportunities that are "high-quality, sustained, intensive and focused." Perkins Act of 2006 Hocking College is in partnership with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) to support their mission of craft trade training and providing a portable industry-recognized national certification. NCCER certification enables Ohio's construction teachers to ensure student success and achievement of industry standards leading to national certification. In addition, NCCER provides multiple classroom resources to extend instruction and engage students. To address the need for highly-skilled teachers in career technical education, the Ohio Department of Education Career Technical and Adult Education, Industrial & Engineering and Health Careers have partnered with Hocking College to provide a series of authentic learning experiences for construction teachers in current industry standards, technologies and materials. Please visit the forum for additional discussion topics, and information about our Career Technical Education Professional Development Conference NCCER Workshops. |
