The Student Team and Academic Recognition System (STARS) award ceremony, honoring outstanding student and group achievements from spring and summer 2012 terms, was held Wednesday, October 17, 2012.  Presenters Giles Lee, Director of Co-Curricular Activities; Dr. Carl Bridges, Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs; Reverend Bill Bales; and Hocking College President Dr. Ron Erickson honored the recipients.

The Interpersonal Relations Class received the “Most Outstanding Contribution Community” award for their work with the Nelsonville Community Center.  This award recognizes a project that made a positive impact on campus or community life.

Lee presented the Outdoor Pursuits organization with the “Green Award,” for their environmental work on the paintball field.  This award recognizes outstanding efforts in the area of education of sustainable, renewable and environmental issues or the implementation thereof.

The Landscape program students received the “Most Positive Impact on Cross-Cultural Understanding” award from Dr. Erickson for their creation of the “Unity Gardens.”  The award honors outstanding efforts in the area of cross-cultural education and community unification.

Students who made the Dean’s List and Scholar’s List were also honored at the ceremony for their achievement.
