Financial Aid Application

The first step in the financial aid process is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The FAFSA will help determine your eligibility for all forms of financial assistance, including loans and even certain scholarships.

Hocking College's Federal School Code is 007598.

You should complete the FAFSA at least two months prior to starting classes or as soon as your federal tax return is completed, as soon as possible after January 1. You will need to reapply for financial aid each academic year. Gather the following documents before completing the FAFSA:

  • Federal Tax Form, for both you and your spouse, if filed separately
  • Parents' Federal Tax Form, if you are a dependent
  • W-2 Forms
  • Child support
  • Welfare benefits
  • Workers' compensation
  • Any other untaxed income or benefits
  • Investment information
  • Cash, savings and checking account balances

The federal student aid processor will e-mail you a Student Aid Report (SAR) explaining your eligibility when processing is complete, about a week after completing the FASFA. Submit the Hocking College Federal School Code of 007598 on your FAFSA to have your SAR sent electronically to us. The Office of Financial Aid Services will use the information in your SAR to determine your eligibility for federal financial aid.

After completing the FASFA, you will receive a Financial Aid Award letter from Hocking regarding your eligibility for financial aid. This letter will include:

  • Type(s) of award(s) student will receive;
  • Amount(s) available per term; and,
  • Terms and conditions student agrees to meet while receiving aid.

The Office of Financial Aid Services begins sending Award Letters to students in early April and continues to mail them weekly, as necessary. If the Office of Financial Aid Services requires additional information to process your Award Package, you will be contacted. Read the letter thoroughly and respond to any requests immediately.

If you need help completing the FASFA, please contact one of our experienced financial aid associates for assistance.
