Broadcast Production & Engineering

Program

Associate of Applied Science in Broadcast Production and Engineering

The Broadcast Production and Engineering program is unique in that it offers both video production and technical skills classes in one program. This program gives you an opportunity to exercise both your creative mind and your analytical mind. Upon completion, you are prepared for careers in the broadcast industry and related fields such as radio, television, video production and engineering.

The program offers broadcast production training to operate broadcast equipment and electronic training designed for the technical side. Electronic courses enable you to design and install complete systems as well as to troubleshoot and repair broken equipment. Broadcast and video production courses enable you to record and edit presentations, fill any crew position in a live studio production, perform electronic field production (EFP) and electronic news gathering (ENG). Both linear and non-linear video editing are taught.

A well-equipped broadcast production studio, a fully equipped remote broadcast truck, a low power FM campus radio station, and a five week long practicum at actual radio and television stations and production facilities provide valuable hands-on experience.

All of the Broadcast Production and Engineering courses are offered in five week long modules that combine video production classes and labs into one. You can focus all of your attention on two courses at a time and participate in real life, practical hands-on exercises. These modules also allow you to participate in a five week internship during your practicum sixth quarter. You will be free to perform your practicum anywhere you choose – Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, New York, Los Angeles, England, France – anywhere!
