Commitment to Students

In preparing for the autumn 2012 transition from a quarter system to a semester system, Hocking College commits to a mutually beneficial partnership with students to facilitate a smooth transition.

A successful partnership places responsibilities on both parties. Each Hocking College student making the transition can expect that advising resources will be made available to assist him or her in defining a specific path to degree completion. This path will be determined by working with an appropriate advisor to record a written Student Educational Plan (SEP.)

All students who meet with their advisor to create and then follow a SEP receive the following pledge from the college. The college cannot be held to the following pledge if students do not have an approved SEP or do not complete the requirements of the SEP in the agreed upon timeline.

Our Pledge:

Consistent application of credit

Students who meet with an advisor to form a SEP and then follow that plan will not lose earned credit as a result of the semester conversion. Credits that apply to programs before the semester conversion will continue to apply after the conversion.

On-time graduation/degree completion

Students will graduate in the same timeframe, as they would have had Hocking College remained on the quarter system. The college cannot be held responsible, however, for personal choices such as decisions to change to part-time status, to "stop-out," to change majors or degree programs or to deviate from the agreed upon SEP.

Tuition and fee alignment

Tuition and fee payment schedules will be aligned with the semester calendar. However, the college may implement annual tuition increases as deemed necessary and authorized by the Board of Trustees.
