Week of fun and adventure for incoming freshman!Smart Start is a week of social, recreational and developmental activities at Hocking College, the week before classes begin in the autumn. Activities are offered from early morning until late at night. The program is based on the Hocking College Campus with some trips off-site. Enjoy activities such as clubs, sports, arts, crafts, shows, outdoor pursuits, movies, games and music, while earning an hour of college credit before classes even begin. You can move in to your college room a week early or commute for this program. Smart Start is recommended for students starting at Hocking College in Autumn Term who are 18-25 years old. However, other students are welcome to attend. Students attending Smart Start become familiar with campus and the local area. They become involved in positive activities, which may last through college. However, the most important reason students attend this program is to make friends! Our research shows that students who attend Smart Start have a better chance of graduating than those who do not. How to RegisterIf you are coming for a New Student Scheduling and Registration day, add Smart Start as a class. If you are already scheduled for your classes, e-mail Giles Lee with your name and Student ID number to add this class. Smart Start costs $155. This fee includes all trips and activities but not room and board. |
