Hocking College is dedicated to producing educated, well-rounded citizens who contribute to the world in many ways. Through courses, clubs and organizations that contain service-learning components, you will have opportunities to experience the reward that comes only from helping others. You may also choose to volunteer individually, apart from classes or clubs. It is our hope that you will continue to be engaged in your community the rest of your life. America Reads Tutoring ProgramTutor children in local elementary schools as a volunteer or as a federal work-study position. Athens Student ActionAthens Student Action is an initiative to connect Hocking College students with non-profits and community organizations in Athens County. Check out www.AthensStudentAction.org to find a volunteer opportunity that builds your skills and fulfills your hopes. The VolunteersIf you like helping people, consider joining this unique campus club. The Volunteers meet once a month to discuss current community needs and brainstorm ways to address them. When the college receives requests for immediate help from citizens or non-profit organizations, we will send an email message to club members to see if any members can respond to the need. Examples of requests include: raking leaves, shoveling snow or performing other odd jobs; raising funds; and collecting canned goods for a local food pantry. |
