Here are some commonly asked questions and answers that might make beginning your Bachelor’s Degree a little easier.

1. I am taking classes from Hocking College and the university/college. What school will certify my veterans status?

1. I am taking classes from Hocking College and the university/college. What school will certify my veterans status?

A.
Each school will submit your enrollment information to the Veterans Office separately.
2. I am taking classes from Hocking College and the university/college. What school will turn in my Work Force Development enrollment information?
A.
Each school will submit a voucher for the credit hours that you are enrolled.
3.How does financial aid and billing work when I’m taking courses at both Hocking College and another college/university?
A.
University of Rio Grande & University of Cincinnati students:
Hocking College will take care of your financial aid and billing if you are ONLY enrolled in Hocking College bridge courses. Once you enroll in your first university course, your financial aid and billing will be taken care of by the institution awarding your Bachelor’s Degree. The university will pay Hocking College for your tuition charges (if applicable) and mail refund checks to eligible students.

Franklin University Students:
Hocking College will take care of your financial aid and billing if you are ONLY enrolled in Hocking College bridge courses. Once you enroll in your first Franklin University course, your financial aid and billing will be taken care of by Franklin University.
*Important Note
Students are responsible for paying Hocking College directly for their bridge course charges if they are receiving financial aid from Franklin University.
4. Where will I buy my books for the University courses?
A.

All university course books may be purchased from the Hocking College
Bookstore except Franklin University. Franklin University course materials may be obtained online through Franklin University

5. How do I register for classes?
 A.
The registration process is different for each university program:
  • Franklin University: HC bridge courses may be registered for at the HC Cashiers & Records Office. Franklin University courses may be registered for online.
  • University of Cincinnati: Second quarter students may register for UC courses online using Blackboard. Hocking College bridge courses may be registered for at the HC Cashiers & Records Offices. First quarter students may see Kensey Kessler for a Graduation Analysis, course offerings, and course registration forms.
  • University of Rio Grande: See Kensey Kessler for a Graduation Analysis, course offerings, and course registration forms.
6. If I plan to transfer to the Rio Grande campus to finish my BS in Environmental Science, when should I apply for Admission to the University of Rio Grande?
A.
You must apply for admission to the program prior to beginning your bridge courses at Hocking so that your financial aid may be approved for the third year.
7. How often do I need to sign a Financial Aid Consortium Agreement?
A.
One signed agreement is required for the academic year. See Julie Murphy in the Hocking College Financial Aid Department for this form. She will submit it into the university for you.
8. Will my District Scholars scholarship be applied to my Hocking College bridge courses?
A.
District Scholar eligible student may continue to use their scholarship for Hocking College bridge courses as long as they are NOT enrolled in a university course. Because the university will process your financial aid once you take your first university course, federal law states that you may only receive financial aid from one institution.
