Move In/Out Dates & Info

Housing Payment

Students will not be permitted to move into the residence halls until payment is secured for their assignment.

Payment in full or enrollment in the payment plan must be in place prior to the payment deadline. Applicants submitting an application past the payment deadline must have payment in place or be enrolled in the payment plan at the time of application.

Payments or payment plan enrollment can be made via Cashier's Office:  740.753.7029.

Payment deadlines for the 2017-18 academic year are as follows:

Summer Semester - May 1, 2017 
Autumn Semester - August 1, 2017 
Spring Semester - January 1, 2018

Summer Semester - 2017

Move-in for Summer Semester is scheduled for:

Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

To check in to your summer room assignment, simply go to Downhour Hall. Staff will be available in the lobby at that time to assist you with the check in process.

There will be a brief introductory meeting for residential students Sunday evening. The time for this meeting will be provided upon check-in. Due to limited staffing for the summer break, no move-ins will be permitted prior to the scheduled check-in time.

Downhour Hall is the only hall available for summer occupancy.

Room assignments for Summer Semester are currently underway for those students that have payment in place. Notification of assignment is being provided via US standard mail. Questions regarding assignment can be directed to the housing office.


Autumn Semester 2017: Move-In

Move-in will take place in two different phases.

Smart Start Registered Students:

Friday August 11th

Downhour and North Halls floors 3, 5, and 7 
Hocking Heights 3rd floor 
Summit on the River and Sycamore Hall 2nd floor

Saturday August 12th

Downhour and North Halls floors 2, 4, and 6 
Hocking Heights 2nd floor 
Summit on the River and Sycamore Hall 1st floor

If the assigned move-in date does not work with your calendar, please contact the Housing officer to arrange for an alternative date. Accommodations are limited to those individuals with academic need to move in outside of the assigned dates.

First Year Students Not Registered For Smart Start:

Friday/Saturday, August 18-19 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Room Assignments for Autumn Semester

Room assignments will be made three to four weeks prior to the beginning of the term for those students that have payment in place. Students will be notified via US Mail or telephone of their assignment and roommate information.


Autumn Semester 2017: Winter Break

The residence halls will close for the 2017-2018 winter break at 12 p.m. on December 12th, 2017.

Prior to departure, all residential students must check out with a Residence Life staff member. The Residence Life staff will have a meeting the week prior to finals to cover all necessary closing information.

Residents are not required to move out of their assigned rooms for the break period and will be assigned to the same room for the following Spring Semester. However, a Residence Life staff member must inspect the student's room to ensure that there are no hazards left in the room over the break period.

Failure to check-out with a staff member may result in an improper check-out fee.

Students wishing to stay past the Autumn Semester closing deadline must make prior arrangements with the housing office. These arrangements should be made no later than the week before the last week of the semester.

Students should be aware that the campus is closed during this time period and limited services will be provided.


Spring Semester 2017: Move-In

New & Returning Students:

Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m

Room Assignments for Spring Semester

Room assignments for new students or students who requested a new room assignment will take place after January 1st, 2018 for those students with payment in place. Students will be notified via US Mail or telephone of their assignment and roommate information after this date.


Spring Semester 2017: Spring Break

The residence halls will remain open during the break period, March 5th-9th, 2018.Students are permitted to be in the halls during this time. Students should be aware that the campus is closed during this time period and limited services will be provided.


Spring Semester 2017: Check-Out

The residence halls will close for the 2017-2018 academic year at 12 p.m. on May 5th, 2018, for those students not graduating.

For those students graduating, check-out must be completed by 5 p.m. the same day. Prior to departure, all residential students must check out with a Residence Life staff member.

The Residence Life staff will have a meeting the week prior to finals to cover all necessary closing information. All students must check-out of their residential assignment by the building closing deadline, even if the student is a planning on residing on campus for the summer term.

Failure to check-out with a staff member may result in an improper check-out fee.


Check-Out Checklist

Completing this checklist does not excuse the student from checking out with a Residence Life Staff member.

  • Remove all personal items and trash from the room
  • Sweep and mop the floors
  • Clean the provided refrigerator and microwave
  • Defrost the refrigerator
  • Clean bathroom (if assigned to room with private/semi-private bathroom)
  • Close windows and set HVAC unit to Cool/70 degrees Fahrenheit (is provided in room)
  • Check out with a Residence Life staff member
