Students will not be permitted to move into the residence halls until payment is secured for their assignment.
Payment in full or enrollment in the payment plan must be in place prior to the payment deadline. Applicants submitting an application past the payment deadline must have payment in place or be enrolled in the payment plan at the time of application.

Summer Semester - 2018
Move-in for Summer Semester is scheduled for:
Sunday, May 27, 2018 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
To check in to your summer room assignment, simply go to Downhour Hall. Staff will be available in the lobby at that time to assist you with the check in process.
There will be a brief introductory meeting for residential students Sunday evening. The time for this meeting will be provided upon check-in. Due to limited staffing for the summer break, no move-ins will be permitted prior to the scheduled check-in time.
Downhour Hall is the only hall available for summer occupancy.
Room assignments for Summer Semester will begin May 1, 2018 for those students that have payment in place. Notification of assignment is being provided via US standard mail and/or the student's Hocking College email address. Questions regarding assignment can be directed to the housing office.
Autumn Semester 2018: Move-In
Move-in will take place in two different phases. Move-in for those students registered for Smart Start will take place on Friday and Saturday, August 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. with Smart Start officially kicking off Saturday evening. There will be orientations held throughout both move-in days for Smart Start. More information will be mailed out as this date gets closer.

To check-in to your room simply report to the lobby of the building to which you have been assigned on the date/time indicated by your floor assignment. The Residence Life staff will greet you in the lobby and will assist you with the appropriate paperwork.
If the assigned move-in date does not work with your calendar, please contact the Housing officer to arrange for an alternative date. Accommodations are limited to those individuals with academic need to move in outside of the assigned dates.
Students Not Registered For Smart Start:
First year students who opt not to register for Smart Start OR students not registered for Smart Start can move-in either Friday, August 17th or Saturday, August 18th. Check-in times are from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the lobbies of the assigned buildings.
Room Assignments for Autumn Semester
Room assignments will be made three to four weeks prior to the beginning of the term for those students that have payment in place (see Housing Payment below). Students will be notified via US Mail, their Hocking College email address or telephone regarding their assignment and roommate information.
Winter Break 2018 - 2019
The residence halls will close for the 2018-2019 winter break at 12 p.m. on December 8th, 2018 for any students not graduating.
Prior to departure, all residential students must check out with a Residence Life staff member. The Residence Life staff will have a meeting the week prior to finals to cover all necessary closing information and student requirements.
Residents are not required to move out of their assigned rooms for the break period and will be assigned to the same room for the following Spring Semester. However, a Residence Life staff member must inspect the student's room to ensure that there are no hazards left in the room over the break period. Residents are strongly encouraged to remove any items of significant value for the break period.
Failure to check-out with a staff member may result in an improper check-out fee.
Students wishing to stay past the Autumn Semester closing deadline indicated above must make prior arrangements with the housing office. These arrangements should be made no later than the week before the last week of the semester.
Students should be aware that the campus is closed during this break period and limited services will be provided.
Spring Semester 2019: Move-In

Spring Break 2019:
March 11-15, 2019
The residence halls will remain open during the break period, March 11th- 15th, 2019. Students are permitted to be in the halls during this time. Students should be aware that the campus offices are closed during this time period and limited services will be provided.
Spring Semester 2019: Check-Out
May 11, 2019 at 12PM
The residence halls will close for the 2018-2019 academic year at 12pm, noon, on May 11, 2019, for those students not graduating. For those students that are graduating, check-out must be completed by 5 p.m. on the day of graduation. Prior to departure, all residential students must check out with a Residence Life staff member. The Residence Life staff will have a meeting the week prior to finals to cover all necessary closing information. Students must complete the following as part of the end of the year checkout process. Completing this checklist does not excuse the student from checking out with a Residence Life Staff member.
- Remove all personal items and trash from the room
- Sweep and mop the floors
- Clean the provided refrigerator and microwave
- Defrost the refrigerator (including accumulated moisture from thawing process)
- Clean bathroom (if assigned to room with private/semi-private bathroom)
- Close windows and set HVAC unit to Cool/70 degrees Fahrenheit (if provided in room)
- Check out with a Residence Life staff member
All students must check-out of their residential assignment by the building closing deadline, even if the student is a planning on residing on campus for the summer term. Failure to check-out with a Residence Life staff member may result in a $50 improper check-out fee and any additional fees generated as a result of any required cleaning/repairs.
