Online Degree Completion

Online Degree Completion Program for Veterans and Service Members

Hocking College provides a personalized pathway to degree completion for our Veterans and service members. The Associate of Technical Study (ATS)Degree allows the student to blend multiple programs in which they have valid work experience, military training, and/or have completed college coursework.

The typical candidate for the ATS Degree may fit one or more of the following descriptions:

  • Is seeking a unique, flexible degree that combines two or more programs from Hocking College
  • Is interested in obtaining a degree to increase the chances of promotion within their current job
  • Has completed many technical credits, through military training or work experience, but has not completed enough general education requirements to obtain an Associates Degree.

Evaluation of the Veteran's or Military member's Joint Services Transcript (CCAF Transcript for Air Force members) coupled with our Portfolio Development Course (GS-2200) maximizes potential transfer credit sources based on the individual student's unique background, life experience and work experience.

After all transfer credit sources have been evaluated the student enrolls in our GS 1137, Associate of Technical Study Degree Development Seminar courseto fully develop and clarify their program of study. The proposed degree plan is then reviewed, approved, or adjusted as required by a degree approval committee made up of academic advisors from each chosen area of concentration.

The Veteran and Military Student Success Advocate tracks progress toward program completion and is available to mentor and advise the student.

In accordance with the Core ATS Degree requirements, the following must also be completed:

  • Thirty (30) semester hours of technical studies to be completed via coursework, prior learning, or evidence of advanced standing(certificates, licensures, etc.).
  • Twenty (20) semester hours of coursework must be completed in resident status by taking Hocking College classes online or on campus.
  • An overall total of at least sixty (60) semester hours completed to qualify for ATS Degree conferral.
