About the Rescue Kitchen Collective

At the 740 Rescue Kitchen at Hocking College, we believe that no good food should go to waste, and no one should go hungry. Our community-driven initiative rescues surplus food, transforms it into nutritious meals, and distributes it to individuals and families in need.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to fighting food insecurity, reducing waste, and building a stronger, more connected community. By bringing together volunteers, local partners, and generous supporters, we ensure that perfectly good food is put to good use—nourishing those who need it most. In addition, we network with food banks, grocers, food manufacturers, incubators, restaurants, and other organizations, creating a collaborative network that helps reduce food waste and ensures resources are efficiently shared. Together, we’re working to build a hunger-free, waste-free future.

How It Works

  • Rescue: We collect surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants, farms, and community donations.
  • Prepare: Our volunteers turn these ingredients into fresh, healthy meals.
  • Distribute: We deliver meals directly to individuals, families, shelters, and community centers.

Why It Matters

Food waste is a major issue, yet millions of people face hunger every day. The Rescue Kitchen bridges this gap, creating a sustainable, impactful solution that supports both people and the planet.

Get Involved

The Rescue Kitchen thrives on community support. Whether you want to volunteer, donate, or partner with us, your involvement helps bring food, hope, and kindness to those in need.

Together, we can nourish lives, reduce waste, and build a stronger community—one meal at a time.
