Leisure Learning

Hocking College offers a variety of leisure learning classes that are focused on creating a rich, creative environment that inspires life-long learning. Classes are hands-on, fun and educational! Whether you are continuing your education, learning a new skill, or investigating a new hobby, Leisure Learning offers something for everyone!

These affordable non-credit classes are held in various locations both on the Hocking College campus and in the surrounding community. Anyone is welcome — you do not have to be a Hocking College student or employee to participate.

Registration Form

To register for a class, please click the "Register Here" link below the class for which you would like to register. If you would like to register for multiple classes, you may do so through the registration portal. Registration for each class will close five days prior to the class meeting date. Please read the policy statement regarding cancelations and refunds.

Hocking Hills Winery owner and resident wine guru, Blaine Davidson, gives students an overview of the wine making process. Topics will include wine making from fruit, juice and concentrate, as well as analysis and adjustments, fermentation, aging, fining/clarifying/filtering and bottling. A must-take for home wine makers! The cost of the class includes a bottle of wine from Hocking Hills Winery to take home!

Glass Making Classes | Hocking College | Fused Glass Pendant Making - 1 Day Workshop<br><br>Sharon Warren Fused Glass Pendant Making - 1 Day Workshop

Join us for our next class in the "make it and take it home" A Taste of Glass series. In this one day workshop, students will learn to make a fused glass pendant. Choose from a variety of translucent and opaque sheet glass colors. Plan and cut your own designs out of glass. Decide if you’d like it fully melted or barely rounded. Let your creations fuse in the kiln overnight. Silver plated bales and glue are included. Sign up now to reserve your glass time!

Light the torch and play with our beautiful Moretti glass. Choose your own colors and have fun! With heat and gravity your glass will take form. On Monday, draw dots and squiggles with glass to design your very own bead. On Wednesday, make bi-cones and lentil shaped beads. On Friday, learn to magnify your designs by layering clear glass on top. All your creations will anneal in our kiln each night to strengthen the glass for long lasting wear. New beads are available for pick up the next day. Sign up now to reserve your torch time!

Hocking College Faculty | Nature and Outdoor Writing Workshop<br><br>John Loomis Nature and Outdoor Writing Workshop

This 4-part workshop will provide students with an opportunity to learn and grow as writers, through the lens of their natural surroundings. Students will utilize various forms of creative writing (mainly fiction, nonfiction, and poetry) to flex their creative muscles and better their structure and form. Through various exercises, both individual and group oriented, students will enhance their abilities as writers and storytellers. Outside sources, such as essays, articles, and select works of poetry will be employed to aid in the process.
